Nixing your closet with cleaner agents that may contain harmful & toxic chemicals will not only be beneficial to your health, but will extend to the ones you love. So, before you reach for the bleach, try this quick recipe that'll have you cleaning naturally, in no time at all!
Step 1: Locate These Items.
1. Spray Bottle - 24 oz. or greater
2. Water - 2 Cups
3. Distilled White Vinegar - 1/2 Cup
4. Essential Oil - 15-20 drops
Step 2: Fill The Spray Bottle With The Items.
Gently pour all of the ingredients into the spray bottle, being careful not to spill any of the contents. Once you've pour in the ingredients, close the bottle and mix the solution by swirling the contents together. This solution should have a shelf life of approx. 8+ weeks or more, depending on what essential oil was used.
Essential oils contain antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties!!! Try to experiment with different oils to achieve the smell you desire. Personally, we love the smell of citrus. Lemon, sweet orange and bergamot are really nice and uplifting. If citruses won't suit your fancy, here are some other common essential oils we like to use in our all-natural cleaners. If you have a recipe, please share in the comments.
Lemon Essential Oil Properties: Stimulating, disinfectant, and antifungal
Bergamot Essential Oil Properties: Stimulating, disinfectant, and antifungal
Tea Tree Essential Oil Properties: Antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal
Grapefruit Essential Oil Properties: Stimulating, disinfectant
Orange Essential Oil Properties: Stimulating, disinfectant
Lavender Essential Oil Properties: Calming, antibacterial, antimicrobial
*** While vinegar is fantastic to help loosen mineral deposits, such as lime and rust, and dissolve soap scum, we do not recommend using cleaner that contains vinegar on hard surfaces such as granite or marble, as vinegar is acidic in nature and can etch the surface of the stone.
